I photographed a sunrise session in Waikoloa with my mom, Megan, and her real estate partner, Alethea, for holiday and end-of-year photos. The morning couldn’t have been better — soft light, calm air, and that quiet feeling you only get early in the day before everything wakes up. We met just as the sun was coming up, and the light was warm and gentle. The beach was peaceful, giving us space to move around easily and keep the session relaxed. It felt more like a fun morning together than a photoshoot, which always makes the best images.
From the start, the energy was light and joyful. There was a lot of laughing, goofing around, and natural movement — the kind of moments that can’t be forced. I focused on capturing their connection and personalities as they interacted, talked, and enjoyed the morning. These photos felt like a perfect way to wrap up the year — professional enough for real estate and holiday use, but still natural, warm, and true to who they are. Sunrise gave everything a clean, fresh look that felt intentional without being overly posed.
I’m so grateful I got to capture these moments for them. The session was full of emotion, joy, and ease — the kind of energy that translates beautifully into photos they can use and look back on for years to come.
