I'm Portia Elena Bonnici

I see you before you see yourself.


That's what photography is to me. Not just capturing a moment, but finding the part of you that lights up when you stop thinking about the camera and just start being yourself. That's what I'm always looking for.


I came to photography through movement. I've been a dancer for two decades, which means I understand bodies. How they carry tension and how they open up. How to catch someone mid-breath when they are perfectly, naturally themselves. I've also spent twelve years on stage as a performer, in everything from costumes to lighting to makeup, so I know what it takes to create an experience, not just a photo.


I've also been on both sides of the camera. Two years of modeling, with parents who modeled before me, taught me what people worry about when the lens is on them. I know those feelings because I've had them. And I know how to help you through them.


I've studied wedding photography, family portraits, couples, events, and modeling. I've shot in Mexico, Italy, Malta, Iceland, and across Hawai'i. Every place has taught me something different about light, about people, about the moment just before someone forgets to hold back.


And I will go anywhere to find that moment. Pulled over on the side of the highway because the light was perfect. Hiking into the jungle because that's where the shot lives. That spirit shows up in every session I shoot.


That's the moment I live for.
