I photographed Abby the evening before she moved off-island, and it ended up being one of those short sessions that feels effortless from start to finish. We met at a beach along Ali‘i Drive during sunset — the kind of cloudy sunset that turns the whole sky soft pink and gives everything a warm, reflective glow.
For a 30-minute shoot, we created so many beautiful images. The tide was low enough that we could use the water as a mirror, playing with reflections and movement. Abby was relaxed and easy in front of the camera, which made the session flow naturally — walking along the shoreline, wading through the shallow water, and pausing whenever the light hit just right.
Because she was moving the next day, this session felt like a little goodbye to Kona. The colors, the breeze, the ocean — all of it added to the feeling of closing one chapter and stepping into another.
Even though it was a short session, the timing couldn’t have been better. The light was dreamy, the ocean was calm, and Abby brought such a grounded, natural energy to the shoot. It was the perfect way to capture her last evening here — simple, beautiful, and full of soft color.
